Quick Tip Tuesday: Getting Ready On Your Wedding Day | Raleigh Wedding Photographer
It's time for another Quick Tip Tuesday post! In case you missed it, my last quick tip was about considering the time of day for your ceremony. Today, my quick tip for brides is about getting ready on their wedding day.
Any seasoned wedding photographer has most likely mastered the art of photographing the bridal party getting ready in not so ideal spaces. While our goal is to make any space look beautiful, here are a few things you can think about when choosing a getting ready space!
Find a space with great natural light. Windows are key!
Try to keep all bags and other miscellaneous stuff on one side of the room. Let's face it, us ladies need a lot of stuff to prepare for a wedding day. To save time and make it easier for your photographer to be able to get there and just start shooting, try and have a designated spot for everyone to pile their bags (preferably tucked away in a corner somewhere). This way, we aren't all scrambling to clean up the room before you put on your dress!
Set up near a window. When your hair and makeup artist shows up to get you looking fabulous, try and have them set up shop next to a nice window with some natural light coming in. Bathroom light is not usually ideal. They will most likely prefer the natural light and your photographer will be happy too!
Think about where you're gong to put your dress on (and don't be surprised if your photographer asks you to put it on somewhere crazy). This is always such a beautiful part of the day, having your mom and bridesmaids see you for the first time. Everyone gushes over how beautiful you look and you finally start to feel like a bride. I always love these photos and having pretty light and a great location help! So if your photographer sees a great space that's still hidden from the ceremony site, they might ask you to get dressed there (even if it is somewhere like a hallway or foyer for example). So if we make a special request like this, trust that we know what we're doing! :)
