During another recent scroll through my Instagram feed, I came across a photo of a local wedding venue that stopped me in my tracks. It was unlike anything I had ever seen in the Triangle area, and I just knew I had to go get a closer look. I went and visited the space a few weeks ago, had a great chat with the wonderful owners, and that is how I ended up with this weeks Community and Coffee post! Read on to learn more about The Bradford, a gorgeous and unique North Carolina wedding venue situated perfectly outside Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
Courtney and Dana are the owners of C&D Events, a highly successful wedding planning business in North Carolina. However, wedding planning was not their original dream! It all started when Dana was planning her wedding. She had the hardest time finding the perfect venue to fit her wants and needs. One day over coffee and wedding planning, her and her sister, Courtney, sketched out an idea for a venue on a napkin. Eventually, planning Dana’s wedding led to the creation of their wedding planning business! However, owning a venue was always the end goal. Finally, after years in the wedding industry they decided they had enough experience and knowledge to create the perfect venue, and that is how The Bradford came about.
The Bradford is a result of a lot of thought and effort. While originally their plans were to create the space in Johnston county, they ended up on the edge of Chatham and Wake county as they realized the location was perfect and there was more of a need for a venue in this area. They found a great piece of land and knew it was meant to be! The Bradford really is at a perfect location, nestled right off the highway between Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, and close to the airport which accommodates out of town guests.
When I first pulled into the driveway of The Bradford I felt like I had been transported somewhere far away. The venue feels like it belongs in the French countryside! The space is perfect. While it does have that European feel to it, the overall design and decor is still neutral enough for a bride to customize the look of her wedding. You could go with a modern, rustic, or romantic look, and it would all still fit together. The space is versatile and makes it so easy for any couple to have their wedding vision come to life! The venue itself is made up of a gorgeous house and a separate ballroom with a beautiful terrace out back. There are a couple of bedrooms and bathrooms on the second floor that many brides have used to spend the night before their wedding with their bridesmaids. How convenient would it be to wake up on your wedding day and already be at your venue!? They currently have plans to finish the third floor and create a perfect bridal suite. It’s going to be stunning!
The Bradford opened in August of 2014 and is already booking around 40 weddings per year! The biggest wedding this venue has seen so far was 320 people (wow!), but their sweet spot is around 150. Eventually, the plan is to build a second ballroom which will give couples more options for their wedding day.
I think my favorite thing about The Bradford, other than the gorgeous space itself, is the people behind it all. Courtney and Dana are truly invested in this project and it shows. I think they even called The Bradford “their baby” a few times during our conversation! These two women have been planning weddings for a long time now, so what you’re getting when you book your wedding at The Bradford is a space that was created by two people who have spent their careers working in and manipulating wedding venues to fit their clients needs. They know all the elements that make up a perfect venue, and they used this knowledge when creating The Bradford. They are extremely passionate about weddings and what they do, which I think is the number 1 thing you should look for in any wedding vendor you hire! :) It was such a pleasure to meet Courtney and Dana and I hope we get to work together one day in the future!
