Featured Vendor: Connecticut Wedding Planner Celebrations by Christina | Connecticut Wedding Photographers Lauryn Alisa Photography

Today's blog post is the first in a series of featured vendor posts I'll be doing!  I'm so excited to share with you some amazing professionals in the wedding industry!

I knew exactly who I wanted to feature for my first featured vendor post.  This vendor is not only an amazing wedding professional, but she also is a dear friend of mine!  We met about 5 years ago when I first started planning my own wedding.  My husband and I were getting married in St. Thomas and knew we would need help with the logistics of planning a destination wedding, so we decided to hire a wedding planner.  As soon as we met her my husband and I knew Christina from Celebrations by Christina was going to be the perfect person to help us plan our day, and boy were we right!  She went above and beyond our expectations.  She is truly a professional in every way and I don't know what we would have done without her.  The day went by flawlessly (even when it rained up until the minute before I was supposed to walk down the aisle)! I tell everyone, the best decision I made when planning my own wedding was hiring Christina.  Here's a picture of us on our wedding day...

I asked Christina to answer a few questions below and share with us a little more about herself and what she does below (the answer to that last question had me in tears!):

Tell us a little about yourself...

I am the mother of twin girls. They are 3 ½ and full of personality! They keep me very busy!

I have been married for 10 years to a wonderful and funny guy – Roger. He makes me laugh every day!

I love to sing karaoke! Give me a microphone and watch out, the inner rock star comes out!

I also love to garden. This year we planted our first garden and I have really gotten into it and love seeing all the vegetables grow. Maybe my next venture will be an organic farmer!

How long have you been in the wedding industry?

15 years. I have owned Celebrations for 6 years.

What made you want to become a wedding planner?

I finally listened to what people had been telling me for years – You should be a wedding planner. I took that leap of faith and put myself out there and it worked! Being able to use my talents and create a beautiful wedding for my clients is the best! I am living my dream and I never take that for granted.

What exactly does a wedding planner do for their couples?  Tell us something we might not know!

There are so many things we do! Decision making, planning, research, phone calls, emails…the list goes on!  But I think above all, I am your friend. Unbiased and ready to give my support to make your day successful!

If you could give only one piece of advice to a couple planning their wedding, what would it be?

I know everyone tells you this, but enjoy the day! There aren’t many times in our lives that all of our friends and family are in one room celebrating. Make sure to take a few minutes to pause and look around. Let that love soak in!

Finally, share your favorite wedding moment!

The moment that comes to mind is when I was at the back of the church fixing the bride’s dress right before her entrance. Her Dad was ready to take her hand. She looked at him and said “Do I look pretty Daddy?”  He grabbed her hand and gently patted the top of it and said “Of course sweetie.”  I held it together until they walked down the aisle. After that I lost it and cried! I thought of my two little girls and if they would ask that of their Daddy on their wedding day. You just can’t make this stuff up!
